Telling me to squeeze a brake lever has, as of yet, not stopped my brakes from slipping/failing when I'm doing bog standard surface street commuting. I'm sure I've been riding longer than you've been alive. But the price per wattage was a really good deal and now I know why. I have spent so much money upgrading this bike and dealing with issues that I have defiantly started to regret this purchase. Its criminal RAD makes these bikes with mechanical brakes. What really irks me is that when I email them with a question about product availability they will answer the next day but god forbid I have a major safety issue I need help with. So I emailed them again with photos and videos and again two weeks no answer. Finally their answer was to send me a basic beginner video on how to tighten brakes. I noticed some major flaws in the brake levers and emailed Rad about it expressing my concern and didn't hear back from them for two weeks. So after reading it was the same bike it got into my head and now every time I go down a hill I mentally prepare myself on how to crash. However at the time of purchasing the bike I didn't realize till I read the New York Times article that it was a RAD bike she was on going down the same hill I go down. Not to mention I live too close for comfort to where a young girl died on I believe the exact model Rad Bike. But while I waited for the new brakes to arrive (which took forever) my rear brake gave out and it scarred me shitless. So I bought some hydraulics to ease my mind. But 2 weeks out of the box the brakes just weren't cutting it. ![]() ![]() Living on a big hill I was more worried about making it up then going down. ![]() After tons of research I decided on a RadRunner 2.
